Hints & Tips
What you wear:
- Nothing hurts more than sore feet on your wedding day. Wear those shoes in properly several weeks prior, so you are not limping around with blisters on your heels on the big day.
- Get everyone in the bridal party to bring along some sunnies. Sometimes the sun is just that bit too bright, rather than spoil a great photo, at least you have the choice to wear the sunnies and hide squinting eyes.
- If you’re planning your wedding for Autumn or Winter, make sure you have something warm for the Bride and the Bridesmaids, as goose bumps, and blotchy purple skin are very prone that time of year.
- If you are a sun lover make sure you don’t have any bikini strap marks for the day. They can be distracting and costly to retouch.
- If you decide to have a long train on your dress, expect it to get a bit dirty dragging on the floor for hours, especially when your outside.
Time of Day:
- The best time to have your location photo's taken is starting 1 and a half hours before sunset, shooting right up to sunset. The light, and colour of afternoon light is awesome.
- The best time of year for weddings is late March April and early May. The days are warm, not too hot, there is normally little if not any wind, and the sun sets are stunning.
- Wet weather can seem like a bummer, however don’t waste an opportunity to get some nice shots with umbrellas. If you are to get some for the day, avoid black, as they block too much light. Try to get light grey, or white. They are much softer on the photos as well.
General:
- If you are using a Hire Car company to provide transport, make sure you are able to have a few drinks in the car when travelling for photos. Some companies do not allow food or beverage, and they don’t tell you this when you book. Sometimes a long drive is not as fun without a glass of bubbly.
- Your day will go VERY FAST. So always consider allowing a little extra time here and there so you don’t always feel in a rush. It gives you that little extra time to stop and reflect on each part of the day.
- If you are getting married outdoors, its always a good idea to watch your intended Celebrant do a service for someone else first, and see if you can hear them from the back row. You are always free to go and watch a wedding outdoors on public land.
- Make sure your photographer has the ability to back up your photos on the day. There are several cameras on the market which can record those precious images on 2 cards, which gives you an instant back up (believe me, cards can fail when you download them to the computer once every while - the second copy is then very handy)
- Make sure the family are ready for their photographs after the ceremony. You'd be surprised how many family members wander off and go missing just when you need them. It saves time, and keeps the day running to schedule.
- Not every day goes exactly to plan. If some things don’t quite happen the way you want, there is a fair chance the guests had no idea either.
